Blue Shield POS, our point-of-service plan, combines the best of our HMO and Preferred Plans. Under the HMO option of HMO Plus, members obtain services through their HMO Personal Physician and pay a fixed copayment for most covered services, with no deductibles and virtually no claim forms. Under the PPO option, members may seek care from a Blue Shield Preferred Provider or a non-network provider without consulting their Personal Physician. Services received under the Preferred Plan option are subject to a deductible and higher copayments, with care received from non-network providers covered at the lowest benefit level. Members must also file claim forms and pay any difference between the amount Blue Shield allows and the amount billed by a non-network provider.
